What did you do to your pool today?

Sounds like fun Patrick!

I removed plugs from skimmers, returns. Put in return eyeballs and skimmer baskets. Filling with about 6K gallons then to test my plumbing fixes and get the pool floor cleaned with some manual vacuuming and fire up the robot tomorrow!

54 degree water! [emoji33]

Patrick isn't the only pool nerd, I just added 19oz of borax and 9-1/2oz of muriatic acid to the hot tub. Ok, that isn't anywhere near as nerdy as Patrick.

And when I went out to the pool shed/tea house to get the M.A. the pump was making a heckuva racket. Turned out that one of our 827 million kamikaze snails had climbed into the fan in the back of the pump. The Pentair design engineer who put a cover screw facing straight down toward the pad with about an inch of clearance is fired!

last night, i drained and washed off the water bags getting them ready for storage. Re-gen(ed) the softener for some fill this morning.

Ran the chems, and my fc was 1.2 ...........oops! :jocolor:

Cya is under 30, so i'm picking up some today...

Yes, i hit it with some fc before bed. :stirpot: :whoot:

..turn in your mod badge!....:d

It had been over a week since I added CYA to bring it up to 60, but it only hit 50 since it rained almost every day last week, so I added some more to bring it to 70 today. Had to do a little sock squeezin! But, we just got 1-1/4" of rain in the last hour. So, now my yard has some CYA too!

I opened up the filter, vacuumed out the excessive Zeobrite the stupid pool company put in. Added an oxidizer, and prayed for clarity. Added 3 bags salt, hoping new wire will give fire to the cell, and power it up....hmmmm, back flushed the dirty Zeobrite, hoping the eliminate the dust that has defended upon my pool after having a new variable speed pump put in... called a million and one pool men, who won't come over... Added a gallon of bleach and prayed for clarity. My pool is never like this, what happened after I got it re plumbed, now faster flow, and higher speed pump! Now it's cloudy, before it was crystal clear!

Welcome to the forum Halvorson~!

Please by all means, start a new thread in whichever forum you need too if we can help you with anything. I understand dust I promise you, we have loads of it here. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but I'm glad you found the forum and decided to post here first.

That's a first in itself.

Do let us know how we can help.

Usually that's when we have an ice storm in April.
Marian, the legendary April snow/ice storm in Michigan usually comes the day or day after I've scheduled the pool company to open (aka take off cover, powerwash and check/startup equipment, as opposed to chemicals which I don't let em touch). Therefore I predict this year it will snow Tues or Wed ;))

Sorry!
I realize it would otherwise be 70 and balmy....:)

Brushed the pool yesterday. I'll be sweeping n testing today. It's suppose to rain n then temps are tanking because swampwoman is scheduled to open!

I did a lot of stuff today.

Like pooldv, I've gotten a lot of rain this spring too. Sheesh! Cant remember so much rain as we've had this spring.
Probably since February, there has been enough to replinish at least half my ~15K gallons.

3 or 4 weeks ago, I brought my CYA from 20ish up to 70. With all the rain since then, I figured I would test CYA and everything else this morning.

First thing I did is pump 3 inches of water to waste. Too much rain!

Results per my trusty TF100 test kit!
:testkit:

Ph 7.4
TA 50
CYA 40 - grrrr
FC 8
CC 0
CH 130

Measured water temp - 72F
Salt 3100 using K1766 salt kit
Filter pressure as far as I can tell - 2psi
Lowered SWG output a small bit
Robot running now
Emptied skimmer and pump baskets
Washed the skimmer lid
Brushed the steps
Adjusted my Pool Light turn on time.

I know Woody! I dont have a built in overflow, so forgot to mention above that I pumped 3 inches of water out of the pool today too. (Edited now)

A built in overflow would absolutely flood my backyard and I have a slight bit of drainag problem along the fence anyway. So I skipped on that feature ... when the pool gets too full, I pump to waste all the way to the street to lower my water level. Ive done that 3 times this week! is at least 8 inches of water (if not more) that I've pumped out just this week! Too much rain in too short a time to suit me.

Spent an hour and a half dipping debris out of the pool from last nights wind/rain storm. Back washed, rinsed, pumped to waste------------AGAIN! I feel your pain Dave.

eh eh eh ... yup.
I figured I would do a test or 2, just to make sure that my troublefree pool stays that way!

Oh, some busy pool guys today...and some actual testing. Wow!

It's mostly cloudy. No rain - yet.

It started last night about 8 oclock I think. Thunderstorms like crazy again. Get at least another 3 inches.
Weatherman says good chance of rain for the whole next week. smh. Man, a month ago my water temp was 72. Today, its still 72. Its ridiculous!
Should be closer to 80 by now... :(

What? It's nice there today? I heard it was superstorm Saturday yesterday.
