What did you do to your pool today?

Cover came off on Saturday. Was still nearly wall to wall with ice. 4" deep but were split into a really cool pattern. Crystals came out looking like the ones in Superman's Fortress of Solitude [NERD ALERT]. Not many left in the pool after several days of wind and 60+ degree temps. Water looks very clear, DIRTY exposed steps and some sediment/dust on the bottom. Leaves starting to blow in a bit...

Now that you should have shown a pic of! Gotta love you MN guys....Man. Ever thought of coming South?

Nerd Alert=:laughblue:

I flipped the switch to the pump n let the Pool Girl play by the side with the net.

Today I made larger holes in the side of my pool and installed larger strainer and an eyeball after draining 1300 gallons of water. The there was a slow leak strainer side, drained another 500+ gallons made the hole a bit bigger and the leak stopped. Yay, team me! Pool now filling up. Gonna have to break down and go get water tested at Leslies since my test is not here yet and probably have to add CYA.

Got a really good manual vaccuum clean yesterday, and today it's windier than ****! Riddled with leaves and dirt until this wind subsides....

Well, we pulled the tarp, tossed it, and emptied the water bags. Threw in the Robot for a night shift. No issues except cold water, and one dead Scorpion. A little dirt and a little tree debris, so all we need now is some sun and heat.

Swim time not too far away now. :whoot:

Going to test the water here in a bit since my pool girl isn't here.

Off to get some PVC supplies later today. I'm ditching the three crappy, leaky bargain-priced 2-way valves on the suction side of the pump from the skimmers and main drain, putting in 2 3-way Jandy Neverlubes. Hoping I can get a good arrangement on the retrofit. Might start a thread on it to get some pointers.

JVTrain, Have you started opening yet ??

I've taken the cover off to get things melting but I have to complete plumbing repairs before opening for good. I had to cut off and plug the main drain line due to the valve not holding air lock on the main drain line. So... to fire up the pump and get things clean, I'm replumbing all of the suction side valves leading to the pump. All the ice is now gone so I'm on the rush to get parts and get it done so I can get things cleaned up before algae has a chance. Water is still in the 40s so not much chance of it going green but I'd rather stay ahead of the game.

Trying to plan out my plumbing solution replacing 3 2-way valves with 2 3-way valves while still being able to direct water the way I want and close during the winter. Trying to figure out how to used the side of the Ts, rather than the center to be the "inlet" because I have limited width to keep the plumbing going where it needs to. I'll probably post a thread with pics and get some feed back before committing. Probably will be a bit of dry fit testing and maneuvering.
