What did you do to your pool today?

View attachment 510702

Your pool looks fantastic now, but this was my favorite part of your pic. I can imagine the conversation.
Three on the deck are just watching the five on the rail, waiting to see if they go.

Fourth on the deck: "Go for it!"
One on the rail: "Let's do it. She's not around."
Another on the rail: "Yah, yah, look at that water, come on!"
Third: "I dunno, I smell a trap."
Fourth: "Geez, what a bunch of pansies."
Fifth: "No way. I barely made it out of that blood bath last night! She's got some sort of roaming monster. No way. We lost too many good men. I'm outta here."
Lol 😂 Apparently it’s time for round 2!⛈️
At least they warned us this time. Last night it said “light rain”.

Swam for the first time this season!

Most years, we're in the water end of May or beginning of June. Weather this year has been weird. Either the pool water was too cold, or the air temperature was too hot to leave the house's air conditioning.

Today the air & water were both perfect. Aaahhhh!

Changed hair nets in skimmer baskets. I've been gone since July 3rd, got back late yesterday afternoon. I should check chemicals but I will wait until morning. I cranked the SWCG so I'm not too terribly concerned about FC levels. Salt is still in range according to the app. I did have a buddy use the OTO test and confirm significantly higher than 5 one of the days he was here using the pool for his son's swim lessons.

Checked the FC this morning... 11. Turned down the SWCG a little bit so I can get it to drop to 8. Didn't check pH, although with the IntellipH it should still be in the high 7's.

Played hide and seek with a 14” long thin brown snake that had been spotted by wife and daughter multiple times trying to get out of pool and failing. Finally found it resting on top of weir door (i had opened skimmer but didn’t see it in pot). Then had a fun time getting it out 😂

Yesterday I drained about 2" of water from the pool due to a rainstorm. When finished, the water was at about half way up the skimmer. For what did you do to your pool today, I will be draining again. The water level is above the top opening to the skimmer. We probably got at least 4" of rain today. I'm waiting for it to stop.

Bought chlorine from Walmart. Took off solar cover in preparation for some family swim time today and tomorrow. It’s gonna be so hot!!!!

Except I pressed a button
Someday! Too many other priorities right now. Probably when something big needs to be replaced like the pump or whatev. We’re just not there yet. 🙂
For now I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing and watch the posts about SWG love.

My Polaris/Anzen metal spa blower has always been too loud to use, even with a triac speed controller to slow it down, so last night I replaced it with an Air Supply Silencer.

I could hear the old one screaming from 100 yards away. I can't hear the new one from five feet away. It's astonishing.

Added a 1lb of CYA because my test showed 50 so to get back to 75 it wanted 3lbs. Dont trust my test all the time so I went with a 1lb and will check tomorrow to see if it moved to 60. Cant understand how it dropped from 70 to 50 since I opened with minimal splash out and my pool is covered when we are not swimming. Also adjusted PH back to 7.6 which from 7.8 using my Apera PH20 which has been a good tester so far.

Made about 20 trips to home depot but it's in.
The question is never how many trips to HD, but how many HDs you needed to visit to get all 17 parts you needed.

3 parts at 4th av HD
6 parts at Main st HD
Front street said they had 7 parts but only had 2
1 part at Bridge st HD........

I HATE that place with the fire of 1000 suns. :ROFLMAO: .

I'm in the same boat. I thought I had overdosed CYA a bit, a couple months ago. Got a result of 80. Yesterday it was down to 50. My original dose should not have ended up at 80, so there was probably some sort of user testing error. But dropping 30 pts is unusual none the less. I dosed it back up a few days ago, and it's still shy as of yesterday. But I have a cartridge filter and add CYA in the skimmer in a sock, so the mushed crystals might still be trapped in my filter. So I'll wait a few more days, maybe a week, before I test/dose again.

Point being: how you dose and where and what type of filter you have can affect your initial CYA test results. It's not really pressing, so it's better to err on the side of caution and not rush the test result. A few extra days, or even a week, is not that long in the grand scheme of maintaining FC.

A win is a win. I'll count myself lucky, only 2 different home depots. Far better than I did on our pool shed.

I refilled my acid tank yesterday, then went for a swim. While soaking, I stared at my edge tile and I contemplated the steps required to remove my calcium toilet ring. I've done that several times now, trying to come up with the best plan. But for some reason, no matter how much time I spend thinking about removing the ring, it has done nothing to lessen it... :(

How about carefully researching which HD has availability of the item … driving to that one (of course not the closest) and then finding the computer had an “inventory error”… and then repeat ….

I no longer trust small quantities on anyone’s website 😂

pushed more buttons, jeez .. when will it ever end. Came into the house last night and my wife asked me what I was doing out by the pool? Told her I increased the motor runtime and lowered the percentage of the SWCG output. Oh, see says , is that part of the filter? Yea baby it's all part of the filter. Good can I go swimming now? Have fun....

Finally..met another soul who hates Home Depot...that place sucks.

Anyone ever bet themselves that the one open slot down the aisle is where your part would be if they had it, before you get there ?

Yup. That's WHERE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN !!!
