What did you do to your pool today?

Swept the pool and added chlorine. Wish I didn't have to go to work today.

Vacuumed stuff blown into pool during the storms. Added 5.4 oz CYA to bring it up to 40 ppm. Ran filter 4 hrs.

Not today, but Friday I added a good bit of muriatic acid because our TA was higher than I wanted it. Saturday morning I aerated a while to raise Ph back up after dropping TA. We also installed a pair of Pyle Bluetooth outdoor speakers that Deb got for Christmas so she can have her tunes in the pool. Sunday we repaired a plumbing leak and in the process found two leaks in the liner. Other than fixing those we did a full test and only had to add chlorine.

Oh yeah, we soaked in it and drank a lot of beer in it ALL WEEKEND LONG!!!!

Backwashed the sand filter. Adjusted the flow switch on the iChlor a bit. Knocked a tiny bit of scale off the chlorinator. Added some acid to stop more scale in the SWG. Heated it from 86 to 89. Swam a lot.

Ran the 1 inch gas line for the new pool heater and fired her up.
Water temp now at 79

Temp 78, added 9.5 oz borax to raise pH from 7.2. Also did OCLT to check for chlorine gobblers overnight, FC stayed at 6.0.

Secured the rail of the under-track auto-cover. It had come loose at the shallow end, both the screw and the plastic screw anchor came loose. Rummaged through my junk drawer, found 1 plastic anchor that was too big and another that was too small.

Drove down to local hardware store with the screw & the guy helped me find what looked like the perfect size anchor for 15 cents. Brought it home, suited up, got in the pool with hammer & screwdriver, and found the new anchor was too big for the hole. Turned out the one I already had that looked too small worked perfectly. Sigh.

As long as I was in the pool with a screwdriver, I checked & tightened all the under-track screws. Then I swam, showered, & had a beer. OK, 2 beers.

With my skimmer in hand, ran after a mouse -which was alive - (at least I think it was a mouse) in my pool. Not sure if I’m mad about the mouse or my husband laughing at me through the screen door. Ugh

Got Real Pool Fittings™ for plunger valves for the pool. These are standard gate valves, 1.5 inches in each side. I already have 1.5 to 1.25 adapters so that I don't have to change hoses. Also got Hayward fittings to replace the 1.25 fittings in the wall of the pool. Plus a tube of pool lube -- we had An Incident with the O-ring on the filter a couple of days ago, and I think it's because it's not lubed.

I have adaptors coming for the other side of the gate valves, but this winter when I take the water down below the inlets I'll install the Hayward fittings and connect the gate valves directly to the pool.

And that's what I did for my pool today. Plus it was my birthday!

I can take a few if you'd like....

I live down in a river valley, where the elevation drops 500 feet from the top of one hill down into the river and then 500 feet back up the other side over the course of 1/2 mile. This can cause some pretty funky wind currents down there. Usually my skimmer works to get all the debris 90% of the time. The other time the wind is blowing opposite the skimmer so I added a second one on the other end of the pool just for the best skimming possible.

Just another boring day for this swg pool. Checked FC, CC, pH... still good! Water is crystal, sparkling, clear 89 deg F. Think I'll go for a dip!

Installed a new head float for my Polaris 3900, old one was waterlogged. Tested all parameters except CYA, added chlorine and MA. Temperature is nearly 79, would love to go for a dip but it's a work day.

I've been trapped at work all week mandate and doubled out all week long. I've neglected the pool because I haven't had time to take care of it. Sleeping was my priority after an hour drive home. I'm off today so I went out to check the pool. It definitely needed swept and brushed. I have some algae forming which a quick SLAM will take care of. Checked my CYA due to a lot of rain in South Western Pennsylvania and it was at 20. I added more Stabilizer. Also scrubbed my waterline. It was so dirty! I haven't done it in a long time. Spent 2 hours just messing around out there catching rays.

Swam with my daughter, then during her nap rolled out and trimmed our new solar cover and installed the Solar Roller apparatus.

Hubby continues to build stairs for me. They're almost done, too! Ran pump 4 hrs, disassembled and washed my filter medium, tested water, added 10 oz dry acid (I'm scared of muriatic acid) to reduce pH so I can reduce TA, brushed and vacuumed.

Added Dischlor and Dry acid.
Bought a couple inflatables for the pool.
