What did you do to your pool today?

Leaning into your anti-complicated theme, I want to avoid electronics (any more than I already have!), batteries, digital readouts, buttons and the most dreaded of all: WiFi! I just ordered this, which will suit me fine, and I will still rely on the primary hose bibb (and my pool cam) to make sure off is off. My drip is all on a timer, I just needed something for when I get involved (manual watering)! Thanks for the idea. It just never occurred to me, and I've been flooding various parts of my yard for almost a decade!!

10 bucks! Now I don't need to remember to set a timer, or walk inside to do it (which were the main causes of the problem). I won't be able to even get the water going without a timer. It's Dirk-proof! Pretty embarrassing I couldn't figure this out, but sharing ideas with TFP members is what we do!!

I’m going to get one or two of these!
I adhere to the “always use a timer” rule for water usage around here but other members of the fam are totally slacking. They’ve flooded the yard twice this week with the sprinkler 🤨

Right. That's your story? Stickin' to it? ;)

I actually ordered four of 'em! One for each bibb. Cheaper on Amazon ($9.99) than Lowes ($12.98). You can buy a four pack for $42.82. Or a two pack for $25.99! But one is $9.99? So I clicked "1" and set the quantity to 4.

I expect my ROI won't take more than a month!!

Me? Overcomplicating? Are you new here? ;)

But I like your idea. I'm going to look at that. Thx.

I have been using this for two seasons now.

I can either set schedules, trigger it from my phone with a countdown time, or yell at the Alexas in my house.

In full disclosure I have a camara pointed at the hose bib this is on, so I can see if it is leaking, and I have a camera pointed at the garden that is watering so I can see if it is watering or not.

There are all sorts of systems to monitor what your pool and its equipment are doing... supposed to be doing. I really like the added assurance of visual inspection. And cams can play a big part in that. I check my pool and pad with cams way more often now that I have cams setup for that purpose. Big cam-fan here!

You really need to get another hobby.
I'm proud of my hobbies that also later serve to make my life easier or better. For me, my HA, pool, surveillance and home improvement projects are more rewarding than, say, modeling or painting or the like. I enjoy the work, the problem solving, and the benefits they return, perhaps for 30 years or more, and in many cases several times a day. Can't really say the same for building a ship in a bottle. So joking or not... no thanks.

Thanks to TFP suggestion when I built the pool I added a hose spigot to my sprinkler system right on my deck. I can set for any time and add pool water. Only needed once this year with a cover but that suggestion was mint!!

Is there any treatment for this? I got it bad.

I got mine Monday. Installed yesterday. So far so good. I've gone an entire day now without flooding my garden!!

Two are in shade, the other two get direct sun in the afternoon, so we'll have to see if they hold up to UV...

Turned the chiller back on after returning home from traveling. Water temp dropped from 90° to 82°. Perfect! Our son and his family are coming over today, so they’ll enjoy a refreshing swim.

New fence completed (thanks, Beryl). Been fighting to keep the sawdust and dirt at bay via skimmer socks and sand/silt bags on the Polaris. Probably going to chlorinate to the higher end of normal for a few days just in case.

On to the next repair…

Not actually anything “to” my pool, but we sure spent some time together today. We had a bad storm blow through and I couldn’t believe all the debris that ended up in my pool. So I used my leaf rake and pole end skimmer to get most of it. Then I got my robot working - love the robot. Of course I had to pump out some water so my skimmer would function again. Had to reset my pump because of the power outage. No internet so had to do it manually. So thankful I have a whole house generator. Anyway, a couple hours later, it looked pretty good. Everything that got stirred up has to settle and I’ll run the robot a couple more times tomorrow. Oh yeah, I brushed the horizontal surfaces at some point. It didn’t help that it was hot and very humid. I would have jumped in but I had to shower and get to a prior commitment. About 36 hours into our power outage - ugh.
