Weird gunk all year long...

So This year (3rd full year with my pool) There has been a weird grey gunkish film building up in my skimmer area.
Thick enough to just form a ring around the inside, but super sticking and gross.
No idea whats causing it. I have a Salt pool, fiberglass.
This year the pool company added too much salt at open and i had to get that in check, but other than that its been perfect all year.
Any idea what this might be and how to stop it? it persists.

That's disgusting.

I get some dark sticky film in the skimmer from sunscreen, lotion, hair products, etc. From others -- not me.

Check the area around your pool. I had a black film in my skimmer and it took me awhile to figure out but finally I linked it to my tiki torches. It was just soot being blown into the pool

just a buildup of gunk.. Use dawn dish soap and a sponge every 2 weeks or so to keep the area clean.. I use about 2 cups of dawn a year to kill bugs so no issue with some on a sponge..

Yes, but it appears to be continual this year. It hasnt happened in the previous 2 years at all.
Nothing like a tiki. No trees. I guess it could be sun screen etc. but it just seems like a lot... Yes, magic eraser and dish soap etc works fine to clean it.
just strange its only happening this year.

It’s very likely sunscreen. I get it as well.
