We bought another pool! Finally!!!!

We got all the rocks around the pool out. I also took a ring of rust away from the area from the bottom channel, I was finding bits of the old track. All that's needed now is sifting the sand to get the rocks and other stuff growing out of the sand, hopefully it will be done by Friday.

We made a huge pile of rocks, pebbles sand andnother debris. The plan is for my wife to take 2 or 3 buckets a day to ecological center inbour town ... that should take years to get rid of! 🤣 After the sifting of the sand anything else is all being handled by professionals; if they have to move or add anything it's all on them! 👍😉 We're too old for this work...

OK, I'm officially done preparing for the pool!

I finished the sifting of the sand today. The installers came by during the week because they said to get 4 tons of sand because of the rocks in the sand ... I needed a workout and it was better than going to the gym! :D Actually either way I can use the sand around the perimeter under the rocks we put in. Speaking of rocks, we decided to use the old ones since it would be senseless to get rid of rocks to buy almost the same. This should be our last pool at this house and our last pool lasted 20 years; we'll be in our 80's if we are still living here.

Pool is going to be delivered on Tuesday, 4 tons of sand delivered on Thursday and install on Saturday. The electrician said he will come that following Monday and I believe the pool store people will be here installing the filter. I would like to put the filter where the old one was, the electrician said code is for electrical but not the equipment so it may be possible. I'll have to build back that area if I can use it.

I plan on filling up to below the return until I get the electric installed and put the solar cover on. Hopefully we can be swimming by Labor Day!

Good save! Well done thinking it out and doing the work!

Will they put in a foam cove or use the sand?
They didn't say so I'm assuming sand. Installation is different today than it was 20+ years ago or maybe we just were naive. The installers will charge if they have to level more than 3 inches and they charge for the blocks under the uprights, I thought the charge should include the blocks as that is the proper way to install the pool (that is my understanding).

My installer charged for demo (old pool), install, sand, blocks.

I think it’s a good idea to keep the rocks. Everything is so expensive now might as wel save where you can.
My son knows a guy who takes metal. When the liner went we paid him $50 to take it down and haul it away ... the best money I spent. The next best money spent is to get a pool installer vs trying to do it ourselves. I watched the first pool being installed and I kept that knowledge in my head but quite honestly people who have done 100+ pools will do it faster and better than I could do.

It's officially done and waiting for inspections which we have already scheduled. The pool was not installed 100% exactly where our last pool was installed, we believe they brought it forward and to the right a little so they couldn't use the existing electrical spot which in turn we couldn't use the previous filter spot. As Maxwell Smart used to say "Missed it by that much"! My wife was surprised by the piping and since we have a dog and my son has a dog we will need to figure something out to keep them away from the piping. I started looking at rackable fencing but my idea and research are just a thought.

The electrician said our township requires a timer and the AquaTrol timer could not be used. They put a convenience outlet on the pole where the SWG is plugged into and the pool pump timer is now controlled by a switch to turn the timer and pump On/Off.

OH WOW that could be an accident waiting to happen for sure!

One idea would be to make a "fence" out of lattice. It is easy to work with and will be easy to remove when needed to work on the equipment. You could also make the "fence" wide enough you can get in and work as needed.

Another idea that I am not 100% about due to the pump is to redo the piping so you dig a trench from the pool to the pad to put the pipes in.

Another would be to move the equipment by the pool and bury the wires.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Our township requires 2 electrical inspections, a bonding and actual electrical so the wires are like that until all the inspections are done. Then comes the fun part of cleaning up the mess. Summer in NJ is coming to the end and once the inspections are in and passed then I will start with doing something for both the wires and piping. I'll hide the wires with rocks at ground level and try to get them neater. A fence of some sort to keep the pups from getting into the piping, my wife wants to try and hide them, IDK if they can be hidden. She said maybe bushes but it needs some more thinking.

Glad it’s all set up! I hear you on the electrical inspection stuff. Ha! My reinspection is set for Friday and then if it passes I can backfill and cover up all the bonding. Then they have to come back again.

I also had a similar issue with the location of things for the new pool. Had to move my outlet and add some planks to the deck to fill a bigger gap.

I started in July and im in the same spot as you right now. 😂
