We've had this 2nd pool since 2013 and I've replaced the multiport valve 3 times now. I'm waiting on the 3rd to arrive, but am wondering if there is another brand that is compatible? The one we have is the WVS003, 1.5", locknut. I'm willing to replace hoses too if need be. This replacing it each year is NUTS. We had a Hayward before with no trouble, but moved and couldn't take it with us.

I don't think you will be able to use a different brand multiport on that filter. What is the problem?

I thought I did, but it's a waterway. The plastic on the valve itself keeps drying and cracking, therefore leaking. We take it inside each winter. And I don't over tighten.
You can try building a little shelter to keep the sun off the filter and see if that helps. Otherwise replacing the filter with another brand is your best bet.
