Someone gave me a Waterway Crystal Water 325 sq ft cartridge filter. It need a couple parts replaced and we ordered them but I realize from looking at the diagram that the air relief tube that comes up the middle of the cartridges is missing the cage and the little cloth sock that goes on the end. The tube is set in good and would rather not remove it if I don’t have to. Waterway only sells the whole tube assembly for the CrystalWater cartridge filter, not the cage and sock but they do sell just the cage and sock for another model filter, the CearWater ll. I’m not sure if this would fit and my question is really this. How necessary is that little cage and sock piece that goes on the end. I’m sure I could take some type of fabric and cover it on the end and secure with a tie wrap but the cage that fits on the end is what I’m wondering about and if it’s a necessary piece. Any idea or suggestions would be appreciated. Paying $20 shipping fee for a little $10 piece or plastic and fabric is ridiculous especially not knowing if it will fit or not. Having to buy the whole tube assembly and try to change it out is also ridiculous. Adding a picture of what my assembly tube looks like and a picture of what it’s suppose to look like. Also a picture of the cage and sock that waterway makes for the cleanwater air assembly.
