Does water softener reduce CH from the city in a worth while amount.? I have an old whole house water softener - should I put it on pool line? Sorry - if my question is dumb?

A properly operating water softener will remove all the calcium from the water run through it. In our climate with our fill water chemistry, it is great to use softened water for fill water.
