Hello, All,

I have a new pool filled for two weeks. I have an autofill which is plumbed from my hose bib (not idea, but saved a few grand, and the installer did a great job making it look professional). Anyway, I would like to install a meter to measure how much water is being used. I would prefer a digital meter I can place inline with the PVC that I can reset for measure intervals.

Why? Just to get a feel for how much I am loosing to evaporation and establish a baseline to help me with any potential leaks down the road. I've looked at a couple of meters, but thought I would check here first. I do have automation on the pool, but I don't see anywhere it is monitoring water replacement anywhere, unless I'm wrong.

What meters have you looked at?

Hi, thank you.

Here is one I’m looking at: Here

I’m more looking for use rather than flow.

Linkee no worke.

Why use rather than flow? What you want is a flow totalizer that measures flow and totals it until you reset it to zero.

Sorry about the link. Here’s one that actually works.

It looks like my automation measures flow.

My primary objective was to determine how much water I’m loosing to evaporation. I wanted to put this just after the bib before it actually enters the rest of the system. Maybe I’m overthinking “stuff”.

What size pipe do you plan on installing it on?

What time period do you want it to be recording water usage? Most hose water meters record for a few minutes when turned on and the hose is being used. You want something that will remain on and recording for a long period of time.

The one linked is not for hose end, but will measure flow although the display will shut off when no flow is measured. It will be plumbed inline with 1" PVC about 6 inches from the hose bib where I will cut and install.

Will it automatically turn on and begin totaling from where it left off?

Yes, it is cumulative until reset. I guess my post is more about if anyone had any suggestions, not whether the units I am looking at will work. I am confident I can pick a unit that will work, but if somebody had any experience with a particular model I could consider is that I am looking for.
