Water hardness and well water help

I fill my pool each year with well water. As you can imagine my water hardness level is off the charts. Pool math tells me to drain 73% and refill.. but the water source is the issue.. I have heard that stain and scale remover helps with all the metals in the well water. Is this true, will it help or pointless at this late in the year?

Again, without a test kit, we have no idea what CH level is being "off the charts." Without a test kit, it is hard to know what your actual CH level is.

There is no conspiracy theory that everyone knows you don't have a kit and won't answer. We are volunteers, don't over assume.

The only way to reduce CH, if yours is actually off the charts, is to replace water. There are no stain or scale removers that can reduce CH.

Mmm, thank again for the update on improper testing, but just as a general question, well water is very high in many different metals, right? In general would a stain and scale remover help (weather I use it next year as I fill the pool) or could it be helpful now, late in the season. I know other pool insight, apps, sites or pool professional stores are against every thing tfp stands for.. but my chlorox app tells me to add stain and scale for my water hardness...? That app took into effect that I fill with Well water ... And here no one even cares what my water source is.. "drain and refill"... If my water source is the the cause of the high metals, why would I drain and refill???

It may or may not have metals.

One of the things I have learned is...know what you are adding, and why. The why comes from testing. Most stain and scale removers are snake potions.

If you have staining, use our stain guide...

That is utter bollox. The only way to reduce CH is to replace water with lower CH water. Clorox is about selling product. TFP is a 503c non-profit. We get nothing from selling product. Who do you trust?

You are correct. If your water source is high in CH, or metals, you are in a no win situation.

Without a proper test kit, we don't know if your CH is "ok" or "off the charts."
