ok i just opened my intex above ground yesterday, we had lots of rain. thismorning i come out to do chem check and theres a water boatman or backswimmer(think its a backswimmer) doin his thing in the pool! i DO NOT live near water sources.how does thisnhappen? is it normal? i had same pool all last year and no such phenomena occurred LOL

The bugs are capable of flying from one area to another, I believe. They also like to eat or lay eggs in algae sources, so make sure your pool is well chlorinated and no algae is growing anywhere.

Yep. Boatman like algae. So if you have them you need to do a slam. Backswimmers like to eat boatman, so getting rid of algae should get rid of both.

Back swimmers bite feels almost like a bee sting (though it doesn't last as long). I hate them things. I can remember as a kid jumping into our neighbors pool, and those little jerks would bite you. His pool wasn't nearly as pristine as my family's.

well hes gonna starve here. i literally just filled the pool 2 days ago(brand new pool so no residual from last year possible) and maintained overnight last night(just did it to check really)
but now that i know that they can fly it makes sense.

We had back swimmers earlier this year but not for long. Hoping they found a pond nearby...or not. Those little nasties bite and they’re pretty aggressive about the whole thing. One more reason to keep my pool balanced.
