Wasn't expecting a pool?!

It's on 30 days now .

I'm waiting another 7 days just to be on the safe side.

But it seems for swg the csi numbers are on a knife edge , is csi very important for the plaster finish?

5000 seems like a lot to me. Most SWG's here recommend about 3500 ish. Ive no experience with your model though but you might consider starting at say 3500 and see if the SWG is making chlorine or not. If not, add another 500 ppm and check again. This method is typically what's recommended. (sorta like adding CYA).

By the way, you guys are coming into winter, and SWG will not produce chlorine if the water temp is too low. So take the temp into consideration.

Great looking pool man, and I love the finish!

sorry earlier on i said it was a "clear water" dunno where i got that from , its actually a "auto clear AC200"

i actually found the manual pdf online - here

can you guys have a quick look and tell me if i should'nt add that much salt?

Thanks , I'm planning to set the timer of the swg for 3hrs late afternoon when the water is warmest presumably , and I don't think Sydney Australia ever gets cold enough to render swg ineffective , I hope :)

They reckon we're in for a really cold winter this year... I'm in Canberra and its always cold in winter... :-( Sydney has great weather since you're so coastal....

If any Aussies are interested I located the lamotte borate test strips , I won't reveal the vendor unless its ok by the mods , to my bewilderment , this guy has never heard of fas-dpd powder either ... Fer cryin out loud , bunch of upsidown Aussies  and this is a water testing specialist store (not only pools)

Thanks moonie it's been an adventure!

Since the recurfacing the water loss has magically disappeared , I mean its been a month now and the waterline barely moves except when I've back washed obviously, so who know where the leak was, I've also changed the hydrostatic valve.

And In regards to the small bubbles coming from the return line , funny enough I was updating my equipment specs for this forum and was trying to find "speck" pump model # online and notice in google all the pumps had a black rimmed rubber lid with clear cap, mine was all plastic, I borrowed the right one from the pool store and bam! No more bubbles!

Actually looking at the pics again both lids seem correct but the black one stopped the bubbles , maybe the o-ring was better :dunno: , I also got a small tube of magic lube , that stuff is magic! :)

Running dangerously low on titrating agent 0871

Still can't find any in au

Is it ok to test with 5ml / 1ppm ?

Water has been great no cc for past 5 tests

Yeah well I got ****** off that not only could I not get 0870 / 1 , but that they had not even heard of it :) so If I had to pay $40 delivery , I would make it worthwhile !

Just need to make sure I store them in a cupboard inside the house where there arent any temp variations ! The cya is overkill but apparently it can last for years.

The only thing I bought locally was the borate strips !

Do I add the borates before the salt or after , or does it not matter?

Water temps are dropping to 60f overnight , should I even add salt now , I hear swg are not very effective in cold water , maybe I should delay the salt , plus the plaster is still fresh 32 days now

The swg is on standby , any harm in it sitting in this state - not working?

Relatively Cold temps + 265 ch , 7.4-7.6 ph , if I then add salt at 4500 ppm (min recommended for my swg) puts me close to -.6 csi , any thoughts on this?

Hi everyone , I know it's been ages since the last update , but everything is going great with the pool !

Just updating the surrounds

Laying down some turf around the pool

It's called Matilda , it's an Aussie soft leaf buffalo , which apparently is great on high traffic areas , drought and shade resistant, but most importantly it's salt resistant up to 4000ppm !

How does she look , I'm half way done , cutting to the curves of the pool is a pain , but worked out well.

I've left it about an inch below the tile lines so hopefully it will grow out flush.
