I am in TN and my heater has developed a two drip per second leak. My goal this year was to keep the pool open during winter. I am getting the heat exchanger to fix this but it takes till Dec 1st to get in and I have 24F weather coming before then. The highs are 46F and lows 24-28F for 2 nights. Can I safely keep the pool open? My heater is out in open exposed. I have thought of tarping it and insulating around a bit.

Put a tarp over the equipment an an incandescent light bulb under it for some heat. You should be ok.

Hayward 400 natural gas, well we've been heating it but it will drop to 50ish if not heated. I just didn't want the drip to ice up as it's inside the heater. maybe no big deal.
