I’m trying to schedule my pump to run regular speed (2950rpm) during the day, but to drop to a lower speed overnight. Can this be done through the app, using the schedule or egg timer? Or does this have to be done at the main control panel?

I have no problems scheduling the pump to turn on and off, just don’t know how to toggle the speed within the schedule.

16,000 gal pool + 500 gal spa. Any advice on what “slower speed” I should use overnight?

Welcome to TFP.

Do you have ScreenLogic on a PC?

You create a feature circuit that has a pump speed set for it. Then you schedule the feature circuit for the times you want the pump run at a higher speed.

You need to set the lowest speed as your regular speed then schedule feature circuits to run the higher speeds. When multiple speeds are requested the highest speed wins.

See feature circuits Skim Low and Skim High and then the speed setup for them.

dd,

Do you have a saltwater pool?

If not, why are you running the pump?

There is nothing wrong with running 24/7, if that is what you want to do, but the speed of the pump is based upon what you are trying to do.

What is your goal for running the pump overnight at a low RPM?

2950 RPM, seems way to fast to me, but it really depends on your plumbing and equipment.. I assume you have a heater...

Thanks,

Thanks to both replies so far. I’ve only been using the phone app so far, but if I need to use my pc to set this up, no problem.

We don’t have a saltwater pool. The builder originally set the RPMs for the pump and we never changed it, assumed they knew why to set it at that level.

We’ve always run it 24/7, thinking it would circulate better, cool it more, and improve filtration. I assumed dropping the RPMs during off-peak hours would be an energy saver.

Happy to get your guidance.

@ddarnold

Sorry I missed your post...

I have no heater and run my 3 HP IntelliFlo pump 24/7, mostly at 1200 RPM, so it costs me less than $20 bucks a month.

If you have a heater you might need to run at 1500 to 1800 RPM. 2950, just seems high to me.

Since you don't have a SWCG, I 'assume' you are using chlorine tablets.. If so, your pump needs to run fast enough to erode the tablets to get the chlorine your pool needs each day.

I'd try running slower and test to make sure you are maintaining the FC (chlorine) level that you need.

There is no fixed RPM that works for everyone, so you should experiment and see what works best for you.

I see you are new here, so you will find we do thing much differently than pool stores..
