Hi - NPO, sorry for the questions (I'm learning, thanks to you all). I've been running my pool since August (when it was finished) at max speed (I think it's 3450) for 12 hours a day, then went down to 8 hours a day and just today went down to 6 hours per day. I know that's too high a speed, but since I am intimidated, I am taking it one step at a time. I've just gotten all my pool chemicals in the "ideal range", which I'm happy about. The pool company set the freeze protection to at 2400 speed, I think. I don't know how to check. Even at that, the spillover is not full. So, my questions:
1. What speed is sufficient to run every day?
2. What speed is sufficient for single digit weather (we are to have some in a week)? Do I need it on full speed?
3. If I can lower the speed, how do I get a full spillover (especially when we have people over)?
4. How do I change the speed? I went into change it, and I can figure out everything until it gets to 1/8 and the 1 is flashing. I don't know what to do from there. I don't even know what 1/8 means.

Also, in single digit weather (or even the teens), if it does not look like we will lose power (a storm), can I just leave the pool running, or is this when I need to drain and close everything down until weather gets back above freezing?

Thanks, LaDonna

Hi - NPO. We are to have single digits here in Georgia Christmas weekend. I've looked up how to drain everything. But, what do I do with the cannister of water (maybe it's a filter) - it says Multi Clone 50 and when it gets dirty, I open up a valve and let some water out. When I bleed the air from the filter cartridge and drain all water from pumps, will this water disappear or do I need to open the valve until the water is gone? I don't want it to empty my pool. But, there would be standing water in there if it just sits. Is that okay?
'
Also, just to get opinions, if it's well below freezing and no storm in sight, do you all just run your pump or do you do the draining thing?

Thanks, LaDonna

LaDonna,

The 1/8 simply means that you are on selection one, out of eight. You just use the up / down buttons to move to the Circuit that you want to change. As you push the up button, you will see it says 2/8, then 3/8 etc.

That said, why would you be trying to do anything at the panel??? You have Screen Logic.

Do you use your PC or Phone to control your pool?

Do you have Apple stuff or Android stuff?

Thanks,

Jim R.

Here in the Augusta area Skippy and I have never "closed" the pool or drained anything. Skippy covers the equipment pad with one of those heavy quilted movers blankets under a tarp and hangs an auto light under all that. We keep the pump running thru out the night, and then we know the day time temps will get over freezing temp.
I see one or two days we're expecting to be incredibly low and not go over freeze temps during the day. It takes more than a day of those temps to freeze water, so we'll just keep the water moving 24 hours those days.

I'm sorry, I need to change that. I don't have screen logic. I have to do everything at the panel. What do you call it if you just have the Pentair panel? I'll change it. I just want to know how to change to a lower speed instead of running at max speed. Thanks, LaDonna

Thank you! Do you run your pool at max speed during the freezing temperatures or a reduced speed?

LaDonna,

All you need to do is keep the water moving. It does not have to be moving at full speed. Almost no one needs to run a large VS pump at full speed.

At the panel.. Menu, Settings, IntelliFlo, Pump 1, Speeds, (This is where you see the 1/8)

Using the up/dn buttons will allow you to see the speed assigned to each of the 8 Circuits.

If your pool builder set the system to run at 2400 RPM during a freeze, then you should see a Circuit named 'Freeze' and it should show a speed of 2400. You can leave it that way or you can reduce or increase it if you want.

Thanks,

Jim R.
