Sounds like you and my wife had a talk before me and you did lol. She said the SAME thing and is concerned about slipping as well . I told our guy I want coping like yours and found out it's not possible ;(Will,
One thing I know about concrete here in our environment, is that in July and august it's going to be HOT! I've had a couple of friends with stamped concrete pool decks here and you can't walk on it bare foot. If they put some sort of spray deck on it you'll be fine.
The concrete is poured in place (PIP). The forms are laid to follow the contours of your pool. It can be finished like any other concrete surface. Typically, it is sandblasted. It can also be colored. See Davis Colors. There are also a number of edge treatments to suit the style of your pool. With more contemporary style pools, the square edge is common.
Joints are cut in the concrete coping to make it appear like individual pieces. Poolside, concrete coping will look thicker, more substantial than the travertine coping.
You can also cap any retaining walls, bond beam walls, or freestanding walls with PIP for a consistent look from coping to walls caps. As a wall cap, it looks more substantial than travertine.
So is concrete coping stronger than travertine ? And I appreciate the advice and feedback . Also like IMAZ said it gets HOT and being in that my wife doesn't want accidents by the pool.
Do I have any other choices
