Hello!
We have purchased a vs pool pump back in November and the installer set it up for nighttime running. nice we no longer have night frost, I want to set it for daytime running and would like your input on the best setting for Southern Nevada. The pump is a Jacuzzi JVS185S 1.85 hp. I have the manual to do the programming, but I can use your help with the speeds I should use for what length of time.

What do you need the pump to do ? You run the pump for a reason and select the appropriate speed at the times you need it to XYZ.

Start with low RPM and add 100 at a time until the skimmers are bobbing, the waterfall has the flow you like, the cleaner works, etc. Then add 100 RPMs to each of those speeds to account for a slightly reduced flow as the filter gets dirty.

The waterfall should cycle once or twice a day for 15 mins on days you aren't out there enjoying it.

Skimming and filtering times vary wildly with seasonal debris / dust storms.

Cleaning is however often you choose.

Do you have automation ?

. I do not have automation.
Ok so it's less complicated, but more work.
Figure out all the speeds you need, add 100 RPMs and manually run those whenever the need arises.

One of the reasons I run 24/7 is to skim and filter around the clock, never wondering if I'm doing enough. I run a good skimming speed which covers filtering by default. The *when* for skimming is as important as the *how long*. You just know that the breeze will kick up 10 mins after the pump shuts off for today. Then that crud has 12+ hours to sink to the bottom. Then it'll only come out by vacuum/robot.

When I want to vac (old school/manual) i bump the RPMs for that, and return back to my regular when I'm done.
