I currently have my valves set to switch from pool to hot tub once per day. I believe that water is exiting my hot tub going to the pool when the valves are opening and closing. The hot tub will lose approximately 2”-3” in about 7 days. I do not believe there is a leak as I let the hot tub run continuously for 7 hours and only lost about 1/4” but have not had anything pressure tested. Could it be the valves are not adjusted correctly or do i have a leak. Pic of set up attached. Thanks for any input

My have Hayward GVA-24 valve actuators on both valves.

K,

Seems to me this a a pretty normal thing.. Obviously not wanted, but we see it a lot in the winter when freeze control kicks in and switches the valves back and forth between the pool mode and spa mode.

If you lose a little water to the pool it should not matter as when you switch back to the pool mode the spa should fill back up.

I assume your spa spills over into the pool..

Does it not spillover when in the pool mode??

Thanks,

Jim R.

The spa does not spill over into the pool. And yes. Not usually a problem until the freeze protect kicks in then it becomes a big problem.

K,

Well, unless you have a dual set of equipment, that would be very odd...

Is your spa completely separate from your pool or is it just at the same level or ???

Usually, when there is only one pump, the spillover is what keeps the water in the spa fresh.

Does your spa have its own skimmer??

Tell us more.. or show us more pics.

Thanks,

Jim R.

All one system. One motor two valves. First valve switches intake between spa and pool. Second valve switches outflow between spa and pool. There is no skimmer in the spa. Definitely not a well designed setup and would not do it again but it’s what I have. I can get some more pics tomorrow.

I may have a little better way to explain it. By looking at the picture above starting at the top the first 3 pipe coming out of the ground are all intake from pool. The fourth is intake from spa. The fifth and sixth is a water feature that is not connected to the system. Seventh pipe is pool return and eighth is spa return.

What make and model automation do you have?

Post a few pics of the pool - especially showing the area between the pool and spa.

If the pool and spa are on the same level, is there an equalizer pipe between the 2 bodies of water?
