I just hooked up a Jandy valve actuator to my heater bypass valve. I connected it to the Intellicenter, and assigned the actuator to the heater (screenshot attached).

I was thinking there was supposed to be a delay when turning off the heat, to keep water flowing through the heater while it cools down, but I can't seem to find a way to accomplish that, and the valve shuts the minute I turn the heat off.

Is this the correct operation, or is there a way to delay the valve actuator for say 5 minutes while the heater cools down?

No, the IntelliCenter does not do a cool down period.

The latest version of the MasterTemp Installation Manual discusses a 1 minute coll down period for a bypass valve.

If you study the Pentair bypass valve installation instructions which are attached to this post you will see that Pentair recommends the valve be left cracked open allowing some water flow when it is closed.

Leave your valve a bit open like that and you will have enough flow for the cool down when the valve closes.
