I am hoping someone can help me. I have an IG pool with a vacuum line from the pool to the pump - can I leave the plug closed in the pool if I am not going to be plugging in the vacuum to the pool - or is this going to affect my water flow?

Isn't there a valve to shut that off at the pad?
Closing it will direct more suction to the skimmer. As long as the skimmer can move enough water that you don't see a vortex forming, you're okay.

No I don't see any valve to shut it off. When the pump is on this vacuum line seems to have the strongest suction, that's part of the reason why I want to plug it in if possible - just want to make sure my pipes won't break / explode if I simply plug it...
