Vacation, leaks and pumps

Hello pool people,

I'm going on vacation for two weeks later this month. Average daily temps will be 85 during the day and 55 at night.

My pool is very small, approx 3000 gallons. It will be pH balanced and super chlorinated (shocked) before I leave. It will be completely covered while I'm gone.

I understand that ideally I'd run the pump each day for a few hours; that's what I typically do, and it is on a timer. But due to evaporation and leaking - the pool installation is very old - over two weeks, the water level may drop below the skimmer. There is no way to switch from the skimmer to the main drain.

My lesser of two evils choice: do I run leave the pump on and hope the water level doesn't drop much in those 2 weeks, or do I turn the pump off and possibly incur algae growth.

Your thoughts appreciated, and thank you!

If you have no way to monitor it nor anyone to check it, turn it off and walk away.
Covered, it should not evaporate a lot.
