My pool circulates clockwise. I use a vac-mate to run my pool cleaner, only problem is that the vac-mate weir is on the right-hand side of the hose, which means debris collects on the hose instead of being sucked into the weir. Is there a vac-mate with the hose/weir reversed? Or is there another option for connecting a cleaner that will work for clockwise circulation?

I've gotta say you've apparently got some real antique stuff there with that VacMate ! I only found old comments on it, but no suggestions for your issues.
Have you considered upgrading to a "this century" automatic robot? All it needs is a plug outlet and it runs. They also brush up the walls and climb up to the water line to clean it. Everything is self contained so you're not dealing with your plumbing in any way.
