UT New Build - Update (start up 5/21)

Your chlorine will continue to burn off fairly rapidly until you get some stabilizer in there. But at this point, you are at the mercy of the PB if they are supposed to be taking care of the pool. I am fortunate that my pool was started up in February, because I had 0 FC for probably a week or better when I finally took over my pool.

There should be at least 15 mins between adding chlorine and muriatic acid. They do not play well together. They also should NOT stored by each other as their fumes can mix and cause breathing issues.
Good to know, thanks @kimkats and @Nikilyn. I moved the acid to a different location.

It's almost swimming time :whoot:Water is stabilized and clear. Only a couple of small areas stirred up any plater dust after brushing this morning and water was clear after brushing. Going to wait a bit longer just to be safe. The cover been keeping the ducks away now that it working beside one time when I was brushing they swooped in for a dip. It rained a bunch the last two days so I had to pump water off of the cover a couple times. IMG_8016.MOV

The yard is another deal, trenches everywhere as they figure out piecing the sprinkler system back together. Sod is scheduled for Wednesday. I can't wait to stop hand watering everything. Everything is so close.

It's been a while, so I figured I'd give an update. Our punch list still has plenty of things on it but the pool is functional, 95% of the dirt is gone, and we have sprinkler/grass so I'm being patient.

We are loving the pool and used it every day. I'm learning the ropes on the upkeep and keeping the water balanced and clear. So far it hasn't been too bad but I'm excited to be able to use the robot and salt cell soon :) I like cleaning the pool at night when it not so hot. Water temp has held between 87-92 without using the heater. I did fire the heater on the other day just to make sure it works right before they come back out. Never mind the extension cord running to the pool equipment shed, my sprinkler controller is in there now but they haven't hooked up the GFCI outlets.

For the most part, we have all our pool deck furniture. I bought most of the Polywood pieces over the winter but my wife wanted to add one more lounger and side table. I ordered those over a month and a half ago but the lounger still not suppose to show up until the end of July and the prices went up on everything 🤷‍♂️. We also thought we might put the Adirondack Polywood chairs on the sun deck every once a while but they are so heavy and have left blue scuff marks on the pool deck that I don't trust it on the white plaster, so we picked up some of the Lowes plastic ones yesterday to try out.

The bigger punch list items still left are concrete for extension of the RV pad, rock walk-path to pool deck, finish fire pit, playground area (playground mulch, garden boxes, and future shed rock), hook up all GCFI outlets around pool deck & pool equipment shed, fix fences (yes we still have a giant dump truck opening in our fence), and swap out pool pumps for variable speed intelliflos. There are some other smaller finishing items but we'll focus on those for now. Since everyone loves pictures, here are a couple I snapped yesterday during the day and at night.

Your water is warmer than ours. We had to put the solar cover on it Friday for a family movie swim night so it wouldn’t be too cold. It was only about 82. Right now it’s 87. With 117 coming later this week it will probably get too warm.

That is crazy. It must be the cover. Yours is a little deeper than ours but it is also a lot warmer there. It's been 100+ here the last couple of days, the pool is at 91 right now. I like it around 88 so I'm glad it seems to drop down at night. Does your pool get any shade? Ours is shaded after about 7 pm.

Ours gets shade after about 5pm. Our house faces west so the pool is to the east of the house. We also go to 7’. I turned on the pump this afternoon and the temp jumped to 112 for a few seconds. Guess the water in the pipes by the temperature gauge gets a little toasty 🤪.
