Using Ahh-Some: Is it safe to run water pump without filter cartridge?

I am planning to clean our in ground hot tub with Ahh-Some and the instructions say to place the filter cartridges inside the hot tub for cleaning. We have a Pentair Clean & Clear cartridge system for filteration. Is it safe to run the pump through the filter without the cartridge inside?

I am assuming that is the case, but double checking to make sure.

You can run the filter without the cartridge but you risk causing pump cavitation if the pump you have is single speed. The cartridges is what provides the majority of the head loss on the discharge side of the pump. Running without it might put you way off the pump's operating curve.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Would you recommend instead to put in the cleaner and run the jets/blower with the cartridge inside? And then rinse the cartridge off separately with a hose when the pump is turned off?
