We have had trouble keeping this pool clean with the included Krystal Klear swg and sand filter. Especially in the corners like the flow just isn't getting there. We were considering whether a stronger pump would help, but it looks like the pump itself is not able to be separated from the rest of the system and just replaced. If we're mistaken, we'd love to know if that would be a viable option.

Otherwise I have some questions about what options we have to improve flow and filtration:
  • I see some folks installed through the wall filters and I had no idea that was even possible, so I have that in mind.
  • I see some folks suggesting even if the inlet/outlet is 1.25, having larger diameter pipes along the way and/or hard pipe rather than flex might improve flow, am I understanding that right?
  • I am confused about flow rates. I see calculations recommending more gph than google says can flow through a 1.25" pipe.
So any ideas or recommendations are welcome. In particular I am really hoping someone else with the same pool can share what they did to keep it clean and clear; whether there is a way to get that done with the KK system that comes with, or if there is something we should upgrade to.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You have a pool with about 15,000 gallons of water and are trying to keep it clean with a filtration system that would have a hard time keeping a small spa clean. It has a very tiny filter and a pump that will not circulate the water very well, so you will have "dead spots" in the corners. Because of their design, its actually harder to keep an above ground pool as clean as one in-ground, so the equipment needs to be at least as good. At the very least, get a system like this one from Doheny's Pool. Your SWG is probably only good for a year or two so plan on one of those later.
