Hi all,
I posted a couple months back about my preliminary plans to remodel a poorly maintained pool in the new home I just purchased, however I wanted to run my plan past the experts in this community before finalizing them.

I posted a couple months back about my preliminary plans to remodel a poorly maintained pool in the new home I just purchased, however I wanted to run my plan past the experts in this community before finalizing them.
I am looking at doing the following to "fix up" the ~25,000 gallon pool:
- Pour new 3" Concrete Pad
- Remove Heater Entirely (no Spa, don't see the need for just the pool)
- Replace Main Pump with Variable Speed Pump (Pentair 011028 IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pool Pump 3HP)
- Replace Mechanical Controller with newer Intellicenter one (Pentair IntelliCenter 5PIC60 Kit - Pool only with Load Center and IC60 SWG)
- Replace Pool Light (Pentair 601001 IntelliBrite 5g Color LED Pool Light)
- Replace Pool Filter and Backwash Valve with new ones (Pentair FNS Plus 60 sqft D.E. Filter 180009 and a Hi-Flow Multiport valve 261142) - [not cartridge as multiple people locally have recommend against it and I am familiar with DE]
- Resurface pool with mini-pebble finish (Aqua Blue Mini)
- Replace all pool tiling at water line with 6x6 tile (Azul Del Mar)
- Rip out all coping/flagstone and replace with new Oklahoma flagstone and Mastic (I have to match existing stones which will not be removed)
- Redo all plumbing
- Add plumbed water fill line tied into water hose faucet so I can fill pool without needing to run a hose each time. (Abandoned auto-fill idea)
- Add Overflow drain to pool (basically a pipe with a grate)
- Add a water feature (perhaps build up the back wall and do some small waterfalls, or build up a weeping rock wall -- ideas welcome, pics in my last post). Need something to circulate some more water and give some white noise.
- Does all this look good / am I missing anything?
- I was thinking about replacing the booster pump to the pressure cleaner robot, but I got some advice to ditch the booster pump altogether and go with a smarter robotic cleaner such as this Polaris one.
- Would these still need a booster pump?
- What happens to the booster pump line if there is no booster pump?
