Universal Wall Mount Too Long

Hi all, perplexing issue I need some guidance with. I purchased a new TR35P cleaner with my new pool and when I went to install the black universal wall mount for the cleaner quick disconnect, I found I could only screw it in about half way, even with pliers. I am not finding a shorter type threaded part out there. Any thoughts as how to get around this? I'd cut some threads off but this has the blue restricting disk held in at the back which wouldn't hold if I cut the threads.

How much of your UWM is sticking out from the wall? Mine protrudes 1-2 inches and I think that’s normal.

Screwed in as far as the UWM can go is fine. Pools return thread depth varies.
