Unexpected CYA test result

Question everything...story of my life. Lol

I need to see things for myself, even if it means spending hours messing with stuff. I probably did 10 tests just to see how temperature affects CYA readings.

Im done for tonight. Ill play more tomorrow. Thanks again.
Don’t obsess over it. The CYA test is a very coarse test. There are better things to do with your life.

+/- 10 ppm accuracy is just fine for our use of CYA. Make a call and move on.

You find a CYA reading and value that works in your pool and use the test to repeat it. It does not matter that someone else runs the test and calls it a different number then you.

Focus on the desired outcome, which is the daily FC consumption. Not on achieving some CYA number which is meaningless.

Overall, I'm disappointed in the Sensafe numbers with
Welp. Look at it this way. Your watch made you question it with no way of knowing how off it was. The advice will always be to consult a reliable watch.

Maybe over time you will learn the CH is always 45 mins late, and the CYA time needs to be room temp. You'll still be able to wear the watch, quirks and all. And when it behaves differently than it was, you still have your more reliable watch in the meantime. :)

I know...right?

Print these out. Read them a couple times. You'll get it:

You can also get a standard sample that has 50 CYA..so you KNOW what it looks like...

Season 1 Showtime GIF by The Chi

I skipped the 50ppm cya sample.

Why play with 1 when they have a kit for 4? Lol

This is on the way just so I can validate my own testing.

You are now, officially, more "Extra" than me. I only ever ordered the CYA standard.

I'd like to see what you get with the pH standard. pH test should be done first when you sample pool water. pH tends to rise over time, even after the sample sits around for a while. Report your finding with the pH standard.

Remember when you thought I was making fun of you about that ?

'Nonononono !!! Its the highest compliment I have. You are incapable of putting half your rear into anything !! Its all rear, all the time, no exceptions !!! ' :ROFLMAO:

I was driving myself nuts... "is that violet or blue"? Lol

For the sake of it, I had the water tested at Leslies for comparison and updated my last post with the Sensafe vs TF results.

Leslies is closer to Sensafe with the exception of Alkalinity.

Once the other kit comes from TF, Ill make sure none of the variation is from me.

Try taking them the same water sample at different time of day. You may be surprised but no one around here will be.

Don't encourage @Sws They went to Leslie's after we said not to...
Now we are telling them to go back multiple times? :laughblue:
