I’m somewhat stumped and need ideas from you wonderful folks. My boys decided it would be a great idea to go fishing in the pool…while the vacuum was running. Now I have a hook and lure stuck somewhere underground between the inlet and the pump.
I checked the pump basket and confirmed that it didn’t make it that far (that would be too easy). I also tried to pull the fishing line to see if I could get it to come back out and it doesn’t seem to budge but I didn’t pull too hard for fear of snapping the line and not having anything to grab on to.
Would it be a stupid idea to rig up some piping and valves to essentially reverse the flow and turn the vacuum line into a jet? Basically add PVC after the pump to where I can turn off the skimmer and drain, and then a valve so all of the water from the pump goes backwards through the vacuum line and back into the pool?
I also thought about a (unused) drain snake but I definitely don’t want that to get caught up in there or rupture the pipe.
Last idea I had was to leave it in there and let the chlorine rust it away until it breaks and ends up in the pump basket (and just vacuum by hand from the skimmer until that happens).
