Unable to seal leak around drain plug area

Hi everyone. We have found a leak in our above ground Funsicle 16ft round pool. The leak is coming from a hole/tear in the seam between the reinforced vinyl surrounding the drain plug and the pool wall vinyl. We have a well in a rural area so we are trying to avoid draining the pool if possible since it's $500 to fill it. We've tried pool patches & flex seal tape on the inside as well as flex seal paste the outside but the leak returns after an hour or less. I was wondering if it would be worth it to try waterweld or even try to cover the whole drain section on the inside with a large vinyl patch. Does anyone have any suggestions or do you think I'm wasting my time and the pool is toast? Any suggestions are appreciated. You can see the current patch lifting on the picture below. The last picture is the mess I made trying to seal the outside with flexseal paste. I don't have any experience with any of this, as you can tell. Thanks for your time. 1000005763.jpg1000005764.jpg

pool isn't toast but your water might be. I would try patching over the whole plug. that is likely too big for an underwater job., so you will likely have to drain it. at the price of a fill, replacing might indeed be an option - or warranty battles.

if your little patch did work for a little while it might be worth trying that area a few more times. maybe one patch slightly bigger over the top of a first one.

almost never works to patch any kind of leak on the outside without doing the inside first. and yet with a lifetime experience of failures I will still give it a try every dang time. :ROFLMAO:

Sucks. I had a similar issue last year and it's why I moved away from summer waves / funsicle. Had a seam rip. Tried a few repairs and nothing worked. I'd think you at least need to drain it to have a hope of getting a good repair on it.
