I trying to decide on how many umbrella sleeves to install in a 12X7 shelf.. one or two… People that have them what are your thoughts would be appreciated..

Instead of umbrella sleeves I would get cantilever umbrellas that can be moved where you want/need them. Remember the sun and shade is always changing/moving. It is much better to be able to move the umbrellas. Just a thought.

We put 7 of them around our pool. Gives us plenty of options as the sun moves around. Some I'm sure we will probably never use but without knowing for sure, figured it was better to have too many than not enough.
You can see them in this pic. They are the mid-gray colored dots (plus the two installed umbrella locations obviously). The two larger/darker dots on the long side are our deck jets.
These umbrellas are cheap ($49 at At Home) so no big deal to replace as they fade or get other damage, and they are light so easy to move around if needed. And they tilt too.
