I had been using the pH test block that came with the TF Testkit but ended up getting a Taylor test block. I wanted to compare the results between the two thinking they would be identical. In the pic attached I would read the Taylor block at 7.2, whereas in the TF test block more like 7.8. I took the samples at the same time with the same arm scooping up the water. The Taylor uses the R-0004 solution where as the TF uses the R-0014. Both tests had the sample as the same color, just the scale is different. It could explain why I kept having to dump acid in the pool to keep the pH down, because it was really getting down to 6.x rather than mid/upper 7. Did the color of the TF block just fade?

TFT used to supply Taylor K-1001 pH test kits. Then, they began providing test blocks from a third party. Those third party blocks seem to have different colors then Taylor's.

I use a Taylor test block and suggest you do the same.

Both of the blocks you show indicate a pH of 7.2.

Ignore intensity. Use the hue of the sample.

This is confusing for me. I see both samples as being the same color. 7.2 in the upper block is yellow to me, not orange. 7.2 in the lower block is orange, same as the sample. I’m seeing it exactly as the OP.

Since I recently purchased a TF Pro Salt this thread is relevant to me. I’m not understanding how I should see the reading as 7.2 in the upper block. Is it my eyes or preconceived perception?

Yellow is 6.8.
The transition from Yellow to pink/red is 7.5. Deep red to purple is 7.8 and above.

In the TF test block, try using 4 drops of reagent. That may lessen the intensity and allow you to see the match better.

Also always have a bright white background.

Here it is again with only four drops in top test block on my usual white background. On the Taylor block I see 7.6, on the top block I would put it at 8+. Perhaps I'm just not good at seeing it properly. Hopefully sticking to the Taylor block will get me close. Appreciate the assistance in trying to nail this down..
