Turning Jandy pump on and off based on solar temp

No, pump has to be running for solar heat to work. Read…

Thanks for the response. I'm actually using the idea in this thread to hookup my Hotspot FPH to my Aqualink by using the Hotspot's 24VAC signal to simulate a solar temp sensor. Ideally, I could just have the Jandy pump kick on when the FPH needs it to. I actually don't have any valves to actuate since the heating loop will always be open (for now).

Is there any other way to signal the Aqualink to turn a pump on and off? One idea is I could maybe use the idea in the thread above to trick the freeze protection into turning the pump on or off when I want heating, but then I wouldn't have a useful air sensor.

This does not directly address your question but if you have iAquaLink you could use Home Assistant to do this. There is a built in integration in Home Assistant that exposes all the sensor and switch/relay statues from iAquaLink. Could use a rule or condition to achieve what you’re looking to do.

I.e. if temp sensor value is above/below a certain value turn on/off the pump. It’s just a glorified IFTTT condition.

The only issue is the water temperature sensor from iAquaLink is only available when the pump is running so you may need to add a 3rd party zwave/zigbee water temp sensor somewhere if you need water temp values for your rule/condition.

That makes sense. I looked at my aqualink integration on homeassistant, and it looks like spa, pool, and air temp sensors are available, but not a solar sensor. Maybe it will become available to discover once I install it.
