Our pool is surrounded by trees so I have to turn the pump off anytime a thinderstorm or high winds are expected to protect the skimmer from filling up with leaves and damaging the pump. I would like to have the ability to turn the pump off from inside the house or with an app so I don’t have to run outside in pouring down rain to turn the pump off. Can an electrician install a switch inside my house to turn the pump on/off, can a remote be installed to turn the pump on/off or is there a timer that can be installed so I could turn the pump off remotely?

There are some simple options, but they are dependent on the HP/Amperage of your pump.

Is the pump connected to 120 or 240 volts?

What is the max load amperage of pump? You can find this on the pump label.

How do you currently switch the pump on/off? Is there a mechanical timer?

I use one of those: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YTCZZF0
But I have plenty of other Z-Wave stuff... there are other options at much lower price tag.
Be aware that some of those switches are rated 30/40AMPs for lights, but 1 or 1.5HP for motors... So you need one that can take your pump. The one above is 2HP @ 240V if I'm not mistaken.
