Trouble with pumps burning out

All of those intake parts come in two pieces. Guess what I didn’t check? I’m really sorry for wasting your time. I am still looking at the sand filter but I need to do more research. Now that I’ve broken my toes I barely got up the ladder. Might need to find another option o there! Sorry again!

Good to know! I was actually wondering if you had a valve closed off somewhere. Not sure what you mean by two parts, but it sounds like you sorted it.

The sand filter I posted is the smallest that Intex makes. Interestingly enough, it's still doing fine on my 18x9x52", but I also run it sometimes 10-14 hours a day and it needs backwashing way too frequently. Still undersized IMO. I have a 16" 2600gph filter/pump that I haven't hooked up yet though. I actually planned to run both.

Ahhh, yes. Those black plugs.

Funny, all the years we had cartridge filters we never used them to clean the filter. We just raised the filter up and the water wouldn't come out. Then I got a sand filter and it came with valves. The ex sent over the old black plugs when I put up the pool this year in a bag with all my old reagents and test blocks. I feel like no one read the manual that deeply all those years ago...

I use mine as it is not feasible ti pick up my cartridge pump/filter due to it being semi hard plumbed. They work as intended but easy to forget. I check my flow after changing the filter out to make sure its working now just as quick reminder. Saved me more than once. When this pump dies, or i kill it ill be getting a sand filter to replace it.

Land O'Lakes Purina Feed... I had to look it up. The plant is right where the Willamette and Columbia Rivers converge (meet).

Portland is a port city. Ships come in every day with all kinds of stuff. The industrial areas on the river then do stuff to/with the stuff (trains, trucks, plants of various kinds, etc.), and the port contractors do stuff to the ships (repairs, maintenance, etc.). There's a lot going on here no one realizes.
