Tristar VS pump trouble shooting

Seems unlikely to me.

Are the first characters 21 XX 2204?

Register the equipment with Hayward and file a warranty claim.

See what Hayward says about the manufacturing date.

In any case, you do not have a 900 as was proposed and what you expected to get based on the proposal.
is it possible my pump is the W3SP3202 or would it have the W3 listed?

And yes, it is 21 12 2204

Hayward tech support confirmed I do not have Tristar 900 pump and that it isn’t a pump they seem to make anymore , but do provide parts to.

I have yet to hear from the PB about this. Their response to me saying I don’t have the correct model pump was to say “

“You have the Omni PL automation system; your pump does not need the display screen on it. The equipment that was installed for you was done so by design. You pump doesn’t need a display as this may produce communication errors. Your app devise is your display. I hope this helps explain a bit more.”

Their response doesn’t explain why they gave me a pump that wasn’t the Tristar 900 pump.

I fear they are going to come back and say that what I signed for in my contract was Tristar 1.8 VSP and that is what they gave me. But my quote that lists all the items and prices does say Tristar 900. Which seems like a specific pump.

We’ll see what they respond. If they don’t respond in any positive way, I wonder if this is something I can complain about through the AZ ROC.

I would want the Tristar 900.

The contract is a legal issue that I can't really address.

I would file a warranty claim with Hayward about the excessive noise and see what they can do to help you.

Since the original proposal said 900VS, then that is what you were expecting when the pump was listed in the contract.

If they wanted to change it, they should have specified that in the contract.

In any case, this is why it is important to require as much specificity as possible when agreeing to a contract.

Vague language like "Pump" or "Filter" almost always ends up with subpar equipment.

It is BS that a display may produce communication errors.

Having a display lets you run your pump should your OmniPL have problems. I would never buy a pump without a display.

Do you think I have any recourse if they come back and say that I got the pump indicated on the contract says even though everything else said Tristar 900?

I am hoping they respond that they will put in correct pump. If not I guess I file complaint with AZ ROC and BBB.

In my opinion, the Proposal constitutes an “Agreement in Principle” and the contract is a formalization of that agreement.

So, the terms and conditions should be incorporated into the contract.

If they originally said that the pump was a 900VS, then that is what they led you to believe and you relied on that representation.

If they specified that you would get the SP3202VSPND in the Contract, then that would be the agreement, but since they were not specific, then you would reasonably believe that the pump was going to be the one that they originally told you you would get.

In any case, this is just my opinion.

I've got the vs950. I run it 1500 for solar and chlorine. It only stops during peak electricity hours (4-9). I bump it up to 1800 for cleaning (zodiac g3). 2500 to 3200 for spa/heater use. I turn solar on at night during the winter, to avoid freezing and during the day for summer for heating.

Update on my pump…..

Hayward swapped my pump out for the one that says Tristar 900 and has the 32900VSP model. Can’t hear it from front of the house. Way way more quiet. The person who installed it said the two pumps are almost the same though minus the engine. He suggested how it was installed on pad made the difference (the 32900 is longer so they had to add some pipe and move the cartridge filter a bit to get it to fit).

Either way, super happy it isn’t quite as loud. Now to fix my cleaner. The RPMs of the wheels are way too slow.
