Tragedy in one picture

Get This one instead. No more fiddling with a wrench in an akward position. The bar of a screwdriver fits the slot for a makeshift T handle, or channel lock pliers easily grab the raised part and it comes off easy.

I’m not exactly sure why everyone thinks you need to use a wrench on that plug. I hand tighten my plug and give it a very light “snug” (barely an 1/8th of turn) with an adjustable wrench. I have never had a leak. There’s just no need to over tighten it. There’s an o-ring on the plug that makes the seal and if it’s lubed properly then it seals.

Sorry your plug broke.

Prolly because of the nut. :ROFLMAO:

But I've read many a complaint that it gave them troubles. Mine which is the other style has always been easy like yours, so maybe its us and not the plugs?

It really does baffle me as to why they never thought to mold the drain opening horizontally instead? It really wouldn’t change a darn thing about draining the filter other than making it ten thousand times easier to do for the customer. And it’s not like that filter body design hasn’t been around for decades where anyone could have looked at it and said, “Hey Gus! Let’s try making some with the doohickey openin pointin’ side wise, eh! Dat would be a real gas when da boss sees it .. heh heh heh …

When you’re a hammer, all the world’s problems look like that one nail in the line sticking up just ever so slightly …

The original design had the plug on top, so I wrote them a letter to say it should be on the bottom.

Then, the new design had it on the bottom like it is now.

I wrote again to complain and they said:

Wow, you really are a pest, you said to put it on the bottom and we did, so that’s where it is going to stay.

That bottom drain plug is a pain.

A PVC street elbow, piece of threaded PVC, ball valve and a NPT to water hose thread fitting works well.

It's been a while, but I think I used a 1.5 inch MPT to slip street elbow, 1.5 inch slip to 3/4 inch threaded, 12 inch threaded PVC nipple (cut in half), ball valve and the NPT to water hose adapter.

They listened to me on the new ones. There’s a plug on both sides!
Nice! I like the handles too. Is that the FullFloXF series?

If anyone reading is deciding on an equipment brand, so far the score is Sta-Rite 2-0. :ROFLMAO: Easy plug, in the front.

There's also a drain plug (with the large slot) on the center of the bottom but I've rarely used that one.
