Total Alkalinity Question

Searched for this but couldn't find a clear answer - when TFP recommends a TA of 50-60 ppm, is that only TA from calcium carbonate?

My TA from CaCO3 is about 36 when I subtract out CYA and borates, which is low but even at this level, I still struggle with pH rise from SWG and spillover spa although not nearly as bad as when I kept it at 80 ppm. I do focus more on keeping my LSI balanced but the 36 does give me pause.

We do not adjust TA. PoolMath does any necessary adjustments. TFP TA recommendations use the TA value from your TA test.

We also use CSI, not LSI.

i guess that makes sense - although it is interesting that the taylor manual specifies its TA range as being from calcium carbonate. thanks for the info.
