Too much MA

I just added a gallon instead of a quart of MA to the pool! I’ve turned on the fountain. Should I add soda ash to counter it? Not sure what to do and if the pool will be ok to swim at any time soon.

I tested just before I added the acid - it was 90. Should I test again? Only added the acid 20 minutes ago… I was trying to lower the TA such a dumb mistake!

You can add some borax if you wish. Target a rise of 0.4 ph with the add.

With your TA, the pH will come up naturally in a few days.

Well I might leave it and leave the fountain on. I don’t have borax only ash. Ok to swim in the meantime? Also I need to bring up the cya - it’s currently 40. Should I wait until this resolves itself? I’ve turned up the chlorinator.

Let the pH rise into the 7s before you swim. Low pH can cause irritation to mucous membranes.
CYA, Let the pH come back up to the higher 7s. If you add 3 lbs to raise CYA to 70, it will drop your pH by .6.
