Too cold for just running the pump?

I’m starting to see single digits in the forecast near Nashville starting Thursday and lasting several days. My pump runs 24/7 and I didn’t have a problem last winter. I’m prepared to winterize if power goes out. I have a shed covering my pool equipment as well. Should I worry about freezing even with the pump running? Thanks!

I have a lean-to over my equipment but I still wrap exposed items. With temps that low it's good insurance. I wrap with stuff like this (below), but you can use just about anything.

You could probably hang up an insulated tarp or a moving blanket over the whole opening & keep it pretty warm in there with the equipment running 24/7.

I also have a pseudo lean-to and have a couple of heat lamps that warm it up a little. We are also expecting some brutal temps and winds and am not looking forward to 4-5 days of this madness (and 48 hours of temps between 15 and 0 degrees). I am debating draining it all but don't have the time to get the plumbing blown out so will probably keep it all running like I did during the extended freeze a couple of years ago. Yay.

It got down to 2 degrees here last night
It was around 50 degrees mid day yesterday-
I was warm & cozy by the fire so I procrastinated on pulling the cover pump out of the pool. The temp dropped so fast (20 degrees in 30 minutes) that when I went out to do it the darn magnalatch on the gate was completely frozen & the pump was about 5 minutes from being stuck on the cover. Luckily I had a pole on the outside of the deck to rescue the pump with. Very close call!

30 mins is probably fine. The snow actually helps insulate the ground. Be ready in case it looks like it's going to be longer though.

I went out with a ton of old blankets and wrapped up my equipment and exposed plumbing. I also covered the opening to my equipment shed with a big blanket. I stuck an empty water bottle into the skimmer.

I just got notified that TVA is no longer going to do the rolling blackouts. Appears that way on their twitter page too. You may want to confirm.

I live near Nashville and this is my first winter with a pool. We covered exposed pipes and filter with moving blankets and tarp. Put a small 200W heater underneath. Running pump 24/7. Keeping an eye on neighbor’s pool who winterized and doesn’t run pump. Their pool is not frozen yet. Generator is ready if we have power outage.
