If there's any groundwater or flooding concerns, keep in mind it will be empty for months, then it's not advisable to leave a concrete / plater / fiberglass pool empty. If enough water gets below it one way or the other, it ceases to be a pool and becomes a boat.

We don't drain it completely in the Fall, we just drain it partially (maybe a foot or 2 below the skimmer) in the Fall, cover it up, and then drain completely and power wash / repair (if concrete falls out) in the Spring before filling it back up and starting it.
