Hello again! Second time using my new speedstir and I wonder who's got the best way to get the pill thing out of the tube without pouring it in my hand. Doing that ends up with me getting the testing chemicals all over my hand. Are the reagents harmful to brief skin contact?

That is how I get it out. Then rinse with water. I do not think I would drink the solution but brief skin contact is not harmful to me so far ----

I hold the vial under the faucet and let it overflow all the chemicals out. Then once clear, dump it into my hand.

No real harm from the chemicals. But the silver nitrate in the salt test will turn your skin brown.

Awesome thanks guys. Glad to hear the chemicals aren't too harmful. No salt for me to test, yet...

Buy more stirbars. With the 2 vials in the TF100, the vial with the speedstir, and the CYA mixing bottle, you can do all the tests before you have to do the dishes. If you hold the vials side-by-side, the stirbars will latch to each other when you pour out the solutions.

I found my stirbars on eBay at some homebrew supply. They're 8mm*25mm

If you tip the vial very slowly, you can get all but a few drops out, before the bean falls out. The trick is to have the bean sideways in the vial. I dump them into a little quart bucket I use for my chems. That way if the bean falls out it's easy to retreive.

I use to pour in my hand but after six months one of my fingers fell off....now I just fill the vile with running water until clear the dump into my hand...i still have 9 fully functional fingers :)

Yea, I always pour it into my left hand, I don't have much use for that one anyway.
Seriously I have stir bars and vials for each of the tests, so I can wait to empty them. But with a magnet you can just put it against the side of the vial then pour everything out but the stir bar.
