Tips for installing rubber flap on Dolphin Active 20?

Does anyone have any tips for getting these rubber nipples through the holes when putting this rubber flap back on?

Does anyone have any tips for getting these rubber nipples through the holes when putting this rubber flap back on?

You can try pushing from the back -- something like a big Allen key might be a good tool for that -- but what worked for me was grabbing them from the front with pliers and pulling them through.
