The "sock" method really works. My "waterfall" from the spa has about 50% of my pump water. Since last fall my CYA dropped from 60 to the 20's. I'll be adding 7 lbs.! I put 6 lbs of CYA into an old Polaris 280 filter bag. I hung it in front of the waterfall and about half was gone in 2 hours. I knew that old Polaris was good for something!

Maybe give it a few days before adding more. Sometimes whole granules will get sucked into the filter and take a while to properly dissolve. You wouldn't want to overshoot and you've done the majority of the increase already so chemistry essentially fixed.
 
60 or 70 should be fine. I might dig around and see if I have some old Tri-chlor tabs. 4 tabs should increase my level by 5 ppm.
