Hello,

This is my first season following with TGP after caring for the pool I realized I was paying someone else to neglect. The pool was installed 2007-2008. There were some leak issues earlier this year that turned out to be a loose coming from a light fixture, but otherwise no major cracks withholding a small chip that is approximately 1/16 depth and the size of two quarters. However, I’ve noticed this year some stains are developing and possibly also some etching is appearing.

I have attached a video that also goes underwater for the surface, and a picture so the overall pool can be seen for context.

Does it seem like it is time for resurface?

If needing to do a resurface, I’m thinking it may also be the best time to upgrade the pool a bit.

I’m tossing around the idea of transitioning the light to LED, and also possibly adding a spa at the deeper end of the pool (it would go where the birds of paradise can be seen in the picture, an area of the deck that sits possibly 5 feet wide). Is this even feasible with the smaller space?

Video

Thanks for help

Your plaster looks fine and it can go for a few more years.

Stains are cosmetic as long as you are not losing water.

If you want an excuse to rehab the pool then go for it. But nothing looks like you must do it now.

Thank you that’s great input. I had asked a local pool place and they said there was etching so it was time to consider it. It honestly felt like going to a car dealership and asking if I needed a new car, but I didn’t know where else to start.
