Yea, I see at least 8 more tiles ready to fall off

Unfortunately when I was in tapping the tiles they were hollow within the red square to the left of the fountain

Once water gets back to the thinset, that may have started a chain reaction. Maybe the grout on one tile failed some time ago and slowly led to delaminating. Or there’s a crack in the shell somewhere near those loose tiles.

Pool grout, not caulk.

Thanks looks like they were hanging on since 06 the pool does have a lifetime warranty I can see if they will honor.

What is exactly covered under the warranty?

The "Lifetime" Warranty probably only covers the Gunite shell and not tile, plaster, coping etc.

It is super unlikely that they are going to warranty tile that is 19 years old.

Plaster, tile and coping have a natural life of 10 to 20 years and most warranties will not give you more than a few years on these items.

If the tiles were less than 2 years old, they would probably warranty it.

At 19, probably not.

I had the same thing happen on my spa spillover last winter where 5 or 6 tiles fell off. It was basically cruddy installation where they did not use enough thinset and I assume with the colder weather it had some shrinkage and the grout holding it together couldn't hold it anymore.

I would certainly try the warranty and see what they have to say, but the EZ patch that Jim linked was what I used. It was an easy 5 min job and its held up fine. The only thing to point out is that the EZ patch is very white and my grout is grey. Its one of those things that annoys me but not enough to redo and nobody else has noticed. Yours looks more white and may be fine.

PS - I'm not sure that covering the area in plastic will do much or offer any protection so I wouldn't put too much effort into it. Either the tile has enough thinset to adhere to the wall, or it doesn't.

Thanks James I do agree and will take on the job once the pool warms up, the area I was also hoping to reseal is around the water fountain below and it appeared it could be sealant. Or is is grout do you think. Thanks again
