Tile Grout

My builder used a sand-based grout along the beam line for the porcelain tiles closest to the pool. Apparently it's supposed to expand and contract better than other options, but it easily wears away after a few months. Is there a better option than this?

That should be your expansion joint.

Deck-O-Seal or Sikaflex 1A should have been used, not some form of grout.
