My husband and I are remodeling our pool and have chosen all the materials except for the waterline tile. We have been agonizing over the tile for weeks. Our home has large windows throughout the living room and kitchen that show the pool from the moment you walk in to the house, so it feels like such a big decision because we’ll be looking at it all day, inside and outside. Because of that we really want to go with something simple, natural and classic that we won’t get tired of and that won’t go out of style. After much deliberation we had settled on NPT Gemstone Silver, but our builder suggested that we look at something with more color that will complement our red brick coping. We’re now considering Sierra Blue Slate (only slightly more color), Tivoli Stone Blue, and Baroque Turquoise (most colorful). I’m also keeping Gemstone Silver in the running.

Other pool details:
-the red brick coping is staying. It was either new coping or adding nice landscaping and we chose landscaping
-we are adding a sun shelf (large enough for at least 1 lounge chair, maybe 2) to the area with the stairs
-new finish will be NPT French Grey reflections series
-waterline tile will most likely be NPT light waves in sea green. We wanted a little bit of bling somewhere and this one is very iridescent.

Can anyone share any photos with these options? Will I regret going the classic/“boring” route if a go with a natural-colored tile? What kinds of tiles have you found look best with red brick coping?

Also please forgive our absolute wreck of a backyard, it is clearly a work in progress. Also we didn’t paint the plaster, that was the previous owners 😳

thanks!

Here’s a better pool photo and a photo of the samples I have:

Top is Sierra blue slate (we’d get 6x6 not 2x2)
Middle is Gemstone silver
Bottom is Tivoli blue stone

I don’t have a baroque turquoise sample.

I like the gemstone silver 1st and 2nd pick is sierra blue slate! I feel the ones with blue tones might try to be too matchy with the water but not matchy enough...if that even makes ANY sense LOL

We are doing the same renovation, and considering keeping our 80’s red bullnose coping. The 1st selection is our 6X6 waterline, the 2nd to be split in half for the spa waterline, and the last to be used as spotter lines for the steps and benches. So I agree with your builder. Go with something that will stand out from inside your house. All of these are from NPT as well.

I love all of them, but what app are you using to see a mock up? I love that and would love to play on it
Yeah the app is awesome! It’s called NPT Backyard.
